A Spotlight on our Client Success Manager – Ali Gorfinkel

Ali, one of our dedicated Client Success Managers, has been an essential part of the Lloyd team for almost three years, with her upcoming 3-year "Lloydiversary" in January. As a Client Success Manager, Ali's primary role revolves around nurturing and strengthening the relationship between Lloyd and our valued partners. She is the go-to person for a subset of our clients, offering support and guidance for any questions they may have. Ali's bubbly energy and enthusiasm are infectious, making her the perfect advocate for our clients. She not only excels in her professional skills but also brings a contagious positivity to every interaction, making her a key player in fostering long-term partnerships and ensuring the overall success and satisfaction of our clients.

In Ali's role as a Client Success Manager, each day is different and brings something new and exciting. A typical day consists of various client meetings and check-ins, with important tasks in between. Ali will work on campaigns and take the time to follow up on emails and address any questions or requests that may arise. Her role requires effective communication and collaboration across various departments, as she often works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that client needs are not only met but exceeded. Ali’s flexibility and ability to adapt to the changing demands of her role make her an invaluable asset to the Lloyd team.

When asked what her favorite part of her job is, Ali says, “Internally, I love my team! Plus, I love that I can work with Lloydians across all centers. Externally, I really enjoy helping our clients. I love problem solving, and being able to make a client's day better, always leaves me smiling.”

Ali’s Story

I started at Lloyd as a Hiring Intern in our Lloydian Success (HR) department. Within a year, I was promoted to a full-time position as the Hiring Coordinator, and about another year after that, I had the amazing opportunity to join our Client Strategy team as a Client Success Manager!

What makes you good at what you do?

My good looks and charm… (kidding). I think there are a few great things that I bring to my team. Empathy is something that is really important in our role. Sometimes, clients may come to me and they’re not having the best day. It is my job to bring members of the Lloyd team together to help solve our client’s problem. Understanding and connecting with clients on the human level is definitely one of my strengths.

What are the contributing factors to your success since joining Lloyd?

The opportunities Lloyd has given me is something I am really grateful for. I've been lucky to have amazing, supportive managers and work with incredible Lloydians that have always pushed me to grow and be better.

What do you love about being a Lloydian?

My favorite thing about being a Lloydian are my fellow Lloydians! I know everyone says it but it's true! We have built a community that values empathy, support, and teamwork. I also think Lloyd does a really great job of promoting work/life balance. Having managers that encourage me to take the time off I need is really special, and something I highly value.

What makes Lloyd different?

One thing that I would really like to emphasize is the opportunities for growth that Lloyd offers. My story is not unlike other Lloydians. Everywhere you look, there are employees that started as interns and have grown and worked their way upward. We also have many employees who have started in one department and were able to move to another.

As I mentioned before, I previously worked in our Human Resources department for about 2 years and can honestly say that we hire for value fit first and technical experience second. Now that is not to say that having the ability to do your job isn’t important! What I mean by that is experience can and will be gained but having empathy, a passion for Lloyd's mission, and the ability and willingness to work as a team with a common goal in mind isn't as teachable and are things we take very seriously. I like to think this is one of the reasons that when you ask a Lloydian what they love so much about Lloyd, the answer is almost always the people.

How do you relate to one of Lloyd’s core values? (Be Human. Be Accountable. Be Better.)

Interestingly, I used to ask a similar question when I interviewed candidates for various roles at Lloyd, so I should have a good answer! I’ve mentioned instances where I have embodied the Be Human, and Be Better Value, so I want to touch on Be Accountable. I’ve learned that this value isn’t just about being accountable for your own actions but holding other people accountable for their actions. It is something I work on every day and will continue to work on.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, and am still living here today, with my fiancé! (We got engaged in October of this year!!) I am a big soccer fan, and follow European Football closely; specifically, the Premier League and even more specifically, Chelsea. This soccer season I have had to drown my sorrows at breweries, which happen to be my second passion. I love a good beer crawl! Whether it’s in our home town of NYC or exploring a new city.
