Editing single cells in Excel

In Excel, you usually work with numbers as well as text. When working with text, you may have noticed that when you click on a cell and type to edit the content you will overwrite all previous data.

To avoid this and edit the contents of a cell as you would with a word document, you can either:
  • Double-click on the cell that you want to edit, edit the text, and hit ENTER or ESC when you're done. Or,
  • If you're already in a cell, simply press F2 and start editing. Again, hit ENTER or ESC when you're done.
If you found this tip useful, why not forward to a friend or colleague?
